Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Fife has enjoyed support from a four-week initiative from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

It teamed up with the charity to help fundraise for centres in Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh Forth Valley, Dundee, Aberdeen and the Highlands.

RBS donated £5 each time a member of the community downloads and uses its mobile banking app in the area.

Valerie Ross, Maggie’s head of fundraising, said: “We rely almost entirely on voluntary donations to support our professional programme of cancer support across Scotland.

“This partnership has come at a time when people with cancer need Maggie’s more than ever.”

She added: “We know how difficult this year has been for people living with cancer. We also know that many are still experiencing heightened levels of stress, fear and anxiety because of the knock on impact of the coronavirus.

“However, thanks to all our supporters we are here to help by offering practical, emotional and psychological support. I would like to say a huge thank you to Royal Bank of Scotland and their customers for helping us to be here with people with cancer, and their family and friends, when they need us most.”

Sandy Watson, regional director for Scotland North & Central, Royal Bank of Scotland said: “We have worked with Maggie’s in the past and colleagues were delighted to be involved again.

“By working together, we’ve raised money for cancer support services at Maggie’s and also helped people in our local community to bank from the comfort of their own homes.”
