Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy marks its 100th birthday

Members of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy have been toasting the club’s 100th birthday.

On May 11 1921 a group of Kirkcaldy businessmen met and formed what later became The Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy.

And one hundred years later to the day, members of the Club marked the special milestone by holding a Zoom cocktail party to start the celebrations of their centenary.

Members heard about Kirkcaldy in 1921, the history of the club, and they also heard from a doctor and a guitarist who Rotary helped to start their careers.President Swapan Mukerjee said that the club had originally planned a very different celebration, but that unfortunately the members had to change their plans because of Covid 19 restrictions. The club is planning a year of celebrations starting in July with preparations for this currently underway.Pictured are President Swapan Mukerjee with Past Presidents Tony Payne and Iain Gow who are facilitating the centenary programme.
