Singers go online to take part in Fife festival

Singers from around the world took part in the recent Fife Traditional Singing Festival – but online using the magic of conferencing app Zoom.

With the Covid-19 emergency, the organisers realised the event could not be held in Falkland and made plans to run the event online. Many of the guests of the past 16 year of the event were invited to join in from their own homes, singing in front of their iPad or computer or smart phone.

Singers from all parts of Scotland, from England, Ireland and North America took part. Four different events were run through the weekend with some 60 or more singers joining on Zoom and hundreds more following on the live Facebook stream.

The event was hosted jointly by Pete Shepheard in Balmalcolm, Jimmy Hutchison in Newburgh and Chris Miles in Kirkcaldy.

Another event is now planned for Sunday, June 21. Videos of the live stream are on the FifeSing Facebook page.
