An application has been lodged with Fife Council to transform the site, which was once home to KE Automatics, at the top of Rosslyn Street.

The showroom, which sits on the corner of Pottery Street, was occupied by the Kitchen Depot, with a car wash adjacent to it.

The new application from Mr George Mitchell, Glasgow, proposes to turn it into two shops and two hot food takeaways with car parking.

Documents lodged as part of the planning application show 3D images of a proposed Spar store.

The retailer closed its old shop further down St Clair Street in 2018.

The proposal is to demolish the showroom area and remove the canopy of the car wash - which was once a petrol station - and block vehicle access from Blyth Street, making it pedestrian only.

The planning application aims to “regenerate a vacant, under used building” and provide new new shopping facilities.

The proposal also includes an auto-teller machine

A supporting statement says the building is now in a poor state of repair in need of major investment and refurbishment.

The report, from Sinclair Watt Architects, added: “ Visually the site has an ongoing detrimental effect on the local community and visitors’ perception of the area and overall the proposed redevelopment of the site to retail premises would have a positive impact on visual amenity and provide local residents with convenient shopping facilities.”

Councillors will consider the application in due course.
