This project is funded by Fife Council, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, St Andrews Community Trust, Kinburn Trust, the Hamish Foundation, St Andrews Common Good and the Buist Bequest.

Internal works are expected to be completed by the end of March, which will enable the toilets to reopen to the public.

After almost two years of planning and fundraising the St Andrews Town Groups, an umbrella organisation, bringing together organisations in St Andrews to work on joint projects, were at last able to launch refurbishment works on the site.

This is the first project delivered by the St Andrews Town Groups, which is chaired by Willie Rennie MSP.

“It’s great to have seen the support and collaboration from various town groups and Fife Council to make this project happen,” said Tourism St Andrews chair Debbie MacCallum.

“The redevelopment of the Bruce Embankment toilets will offer our thousands of coach passengers and visitors, as well as our locals, much better facilities when they arrive in St Andrews.”

She added: “We will finally have a changing places facility which will enable all to come and visit and enjoy St Andrews.”
