The Scottish Social Services Council found that Maureen Ritchie had, on a date between August and September 2018, shown ‘flagrant disregard’ of the expectations of a social support worker while employed at Abbotsford care home in Methil.

The council said Ms Ritchie had pointed her finger in a resident's face; told them ‘that’s enough, now that is enough, I don’t put up with that’ or words to that effect; thrown their pyjama top across their bedroom; and then stated ‘You pick it up, I’m nae coming back’ or words to that effect.

The verdict stated that the "threatening behaviour is likely to have caused the resident to feel intimidated, scared and upset in his home environment where he should feel safe, cared for and protected”.

It added: “Your behaviour falls short of professional standards expected and breaches the Codes of Conduct.”
