Marzipan’s Meats secured the coveted Diamond Award in the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards 2020 – marking their tasty original burger as the best in the business.

Delighted owner Paul Marzinik said his award-winning sweet chilli cheeseburger was a classic flavour combination that was already a winner with his customers.

“It’s the fastest selling burger we do,” said Paul, who launched the business only three years ago. “It outsells all the others.

“Sweet chilli sauce and cheese are two things that people often add to a burger so I decided to create something that combined these favourite flavours at the outset. It’s fantastic to have it recognised by national judges as an outstanding product – that means everything to me.”

And Paul revealed that the news of his national title win came the day before his 40th birthday.

“I’ve had worse presents,” he laughed.

“I’m over the moon to win the Scottish title and our beautiful Diamond Award will take pride of place in the shop window,” he said. “My Dad’s busy producing plenty more – so hopefully anyone wanting to try Scotland’s best speciality burgers won’t leave empty-handed!

“This is an unbelievable honour and we’re over the moon to receive this recognition from the industry and our peers.

“It’s a tremendous boost to a young enterprise.”
