Regulars at Kirkcaldy’s Penny Farthing pub thought they were seeing double when they were ordering their drinks. The reason was identical twins Jan and Marion Duncan were working behind the bar. The twins, from Cawdor Crescent, Kirkcaldy, have been working for proprietor Joe Malone for several years. He recently took on cocktail bar manager Tony Marvin who struggled to tell them apart! Mrs Maude Miller, wife of the Burntisland Golf House Club captain, donated a new trophy to the club for competition between girls whose parents are club members., The Francesa Margaret Trophy was named after her 16-year old daughter. Kirkcaldy and District Licensed Trade Association’s golf section held its annual championship ove the Dodhead Course, Burntisland. Winner of the Crawford Cup for best handicap was Ian MacDonald of the Crown Tavern, Kinghorn while Sean Martin of Dunnikier House Hotel was runner-up. Winner of the Guinness Shield for the best scratch round went to Alex Smith of the Coaledge Tavern. Crossgates. To mark 50 years in business, Kirkcaldy hairdressing firm Len Dow Salons invited one of its original customers to ‘sit’ for70-year old Sandy Thomson, a barber with the shop when it was first bought by the late Gordon L.
