For over 50 years the house owners in the Raith housing estate in the south-west of Kirkcaldy, next to Beveridge Park, have paid a £1 per year as the annual subscription to Raith House Owners Association (RHOA).
This association was formed in 1966 by the residents of Raith Estate with the objectives of preserving the design and layout in the estate, preserving its amenity and promoting social activities and events.

But as all the £1 subscriptions had not been spent and there was just less than £2000 left in the association’s bank account, the last chairman of RHOA carried out a survey of the current householders to ask them which charities the money should be donated to.
Euan Fraser, past chairman of the RHOA, said: “The final choice made was to donate a quarter of the total to each of Cancer Research, R N L I and Kirkcaldy Foodbank with the balance to be used for suitable planting in a common area in the estate in Spring 2021.”
Cheques were recently handed over by Mr Fraser to Gordon Reid (chairman of Cancer Research, Kirkcaldy branch ), Mike Baxendine (chairman of RNLI, Kirkcaldy branch ) and Ken Mowbray (committee member of Kirkcaldy Foodbank ) – all three charities were delighted with the donations.
