A petition about the removal of the 13 bus service between Leven and Kirkcaldy was going before Levenmouth councillors today (Wednesday).
The wholly tendered service was cancelled by Fife Council last August, causing widespread dismay among residents.
And last week, there were further complaints after a new Stagecoach commercial service, designed to replace the 13, did not include parts of Lower Methil and MacDuff.
Methil resident Helen Robertson started the petition.
Speaking after the new 113 service – which came into force on Monday and will be trialled for six months – was announced, she said: “Again, Methil has been completely forgotten about.
“There are a lot of older people here, and still, they have to walk up the Braes to get to a bus.
“The 13 was a lifeline to many of those people.”
The 300-signature petition asks for the 13 to be reinstated or an existing service to be amended.
“We’ve got all the bus stops there,” said Helen.
“We just don’t have any buses.”
Councillor Jim Young said councillors will discuss the petition but will not be able to make any decisions.
“We will keep in touch with Andrew Jarvis (managing director, Stagecoach East Scotland) and whatever pressure we can put on, we will do it,” he said.
