A Pittenweem theatre student has been offered a place at a prestigious London theatre academy.

John Lumsden has been selected from thousands of applicants to take up a place at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

John had been put forward for the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship at the academy, and although he missed out on that scholarship the academy has confirmed an award to cover his tuition fees.

John, who has been a student at the MGA Academy of Performing Arts in Edinburgh for the last two years explained: “I still need to source funding for accommodation, transport and living costs in London, which can be quite expensive as you can imagine. I have set up a page on www.youcaring.com in the hope that some people might be willing to support me in my journey to become the best performer I can be and follow my dreams of having a career in the West End.

“I feel totally at home on stage and can’t think of doing anything else as this is all I have ever wanted to do from the age of nine, it is my passion.”
