Plans announced for £4 million Eden Mill development

The project will see former paper mill buildings refurbished to become the new home of Eden Mill, allowing it to increase production of gin, beer and whisky, create more products and retain space for expansion in the future.

The development would sit within the University of St Andrews’ new Eden Campus.

Included in the plans submitted to Fife Council are several visitor areas, a cafe/bar, a visitor centre, shop, and a VIP tasting area on the top floor of the distillery.

The development would also allow Eden Mill to increase its visitor numbers for tours from 25,000 to 50,000 per year.

If the plans are approved, Eden Mill aims to be on the site by the summer and have the buildings operational by autumn.

The plans follow the university’s own application for a £20 million development which will see 400 university staff relocate to the Eden Campus.

The proposal, if approved, would see the former paper mill transformed into a modern working environment, with office space, storage for library stock and more.
