THE future comes a step closer on May 9 when Cardenden officially launches its five-year Community Action Plan in the Bowhill Community Centre.
Vi Penman, a member of the Coalfields Community Futures Steering Group, said: “We have had tremendous support in drawing up the plan and deciding our priority projects for the next five years.
“Now we hope people will turn out in force to give the action plan a really good send-off and find out if they can play a part in making it work for the benefit of the whole community.
“A lot of the projects in the plan are already up and running, including our community notice board which will act as a focus and information point for the area.”
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust launched the Coalfields Community Futures programme, and backed it with £30,000 seedcorn funding.
Local organisations have already launched a number of new projects with the help of the funding package, including improvements to Wallsgreen Park entrance, a new community minibus and a local visitors’ guide.
The launch event runs from 7.00-8.45 p.m. and includes full updates and discussion sessions on implementing the plan.
