Police and fire service called to '˜hazmat incident' at Glenrothes bus station

Emergency services are in attendance at what has been described as a '˜hazmat (hazardous materials) incident' at Glenrothes Bus Station.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call around 4.15pm this afternoon (Wednesday) and a spokesman confirmed there are still three appliances on the scene, including a special unit.

They were alerted when someone reported that an ‘unknown liquid’ was coming out of a drain close to the station.

A spokesman for Police Scotland confirmed that they had been called to the station to support the fire service.

The water has been tested and has come back PH neutral and is considered non-toxic and not harmful.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Earlier, the whole area was evacuated and cordoned off, however Stagecoach confirmed just before 6pm that stances 1-8 were in operation and no services had been affected.
