Police are appealing for witnesses following an arson attack in Leslie on Monday evening.

A vehicle is thought to have been deliberately set alight outside a house in Westerlea at around 11.30 pm.

Police officers and fire crews attended the scene, no one was injured in the blaze.

Inspector Derek Paxton said they are treating the incident as suspicious and has called on anyone who saw anything or anyone in the immediate area around the time of the fire to contact them.

“This was a serious incident and one that was seemingly started deliberately, thankfully nobody was hurt,” said Inspector Paxton.

“I would urge anyone with any information regarding the incident to get in touch either by phoning 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where all calls will be kept anonymous.”
