Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted bag snatch in Markinch.
The incident took place around midday on Monday, January 12, in John Dixon Park.
A 19-year-old woman was walking on a footpath, which runs parallel to Balbirnie Street, when she was approached from behind by a male who attempted to pull a rucksack from her shoulders causing her to fall to the ground.
The victim held onto her bag and the suspect ran off in the direction of Balbirnie Street and Croft Crescent empty handed.
Anyone who can assist police in identifying the man responsible is asked to come forward.
He is described as being in his teens, of slight build, wearing dark coloured bottoms and a dark coloured hooded top or jacket.
Detective Constable Gavin Alcorn said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and I am looking to speak to members of the public who were in the area of John Dixon Park around the time of this incident and who may be able to provide any information which may assist our enquiries.
“I would ask anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
