Police appeal after Cardenden fires

Fife Police are appealing for information after a garage was destroyed and a garden shed set on fire in Cardenden on Wednesday night (August 22).

About 11.30 p.m. a resident of Whitehall Avenue in the village found that his garden shed had been set on fire. He was able to put the fire out himself.

Approximately 15 minutes later an empty wooden garage at Whitehall Avenue was also discovered to be on fire.

Despite the efforts of Fife Fire and Rescue the garage was destroyed.

PC John McDiarmid said: “Just before the garage was found ablaze voices were heard in the area. All indications are that the fires were deliberate.

The people responsible showed a total disregard for the consequences of their actions and placed the public in danger as the fire could have easily spread.

“I appeal to anyone who has information regarding these fires to contact Fife Police on 08456 005702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
