Officers have since been conducting various lines of inquiry to trace those responsible and anyone who can assist with their investigation is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Kate Blackwell from Dalgety Bay Police Station said: “The chapel had previously been derelict until a major renovation in 2015, at a considerable expense.

“It is therefore extremely disappointing that anyone would look to subject this beautiful building to such unnecessary and extensive damage.

“Since this matter was reported to us we have been conducting numerous lines of inquiry to identify the culprits and we are now eager to hear from anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area over the May Day weekend.
