Police in Kirkcaldy are seeking assistance from the public to help trace those responsible for an unprovoked attack on a teenager on Saturday.

The incident happened around 7pm on Birnam Road to the rear of Eddy’s Bar.

Officers are urging anyone with any information that could assist them with their inquiries to get in contact with them immediately.

Sergeant Jimmy Adamson of Kirkcaldy police station said: “The young man was walking on his own when he was approached by a group of males. He was subjected to an unprovoked attack, which left him with a serious facial injury.

“We know that the area was busy with people visiting shops and attending an event at a local pub and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with us.”
