Two homes were broken into just minutes apart between 4.15am and 4.45am on Wednesday, November 11.

The incidents took place in Elgin Drive, Tashall and Muirfield Drive, Newcastle where at the second location an individual was disturbed whilst attempting to access a property.

The individual police want to trace is described as male, 21 to 40 years old, six foot tall with dark scruffy hair and wearing dark clothing at the time.

Anyone who was in the vicinity at the time or has suspicions regarding anyone matching the description is urged to contact the police.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was awake at that time or leaving for work in or around the area who may have seen the individual to please contact us,” said Inspector Derek Paxton.

“Due to the close proximity any time of the break ins we are sure that they were carried out by the same person who has been described,” he added.

Inspector Paxton also reiterated the need for the public to check doors and windows were locked before going to bed and reminded them to not leave valuables, handbags or car keys on show.
