Police issue fresh appeal one week on from murder in Kirkcaldy

Police are issuing a fresh appeal for information, one week on from the murder of Darren Adie in Kirkcaldy.

The 42-year-old was found unconscious in Tweed Avenue, close to the junction with Lawson Street at around 6.45 p.m. on Saturday, May 28.

He was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he later passed away.

A murder inquiry led by Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team is currently ongoing and police will be carrying out high-visibility patrols tonight (Saturday, June 4) in the area where Darren was discovered.

Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around Tweed Avenue or Lawson Street last week is asked to come forward.

In addition, officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Darren in the area prior to his death.

Darren is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky/muscular build and short dark hair. He was wearing a blue zip-up jacket, blue polo shirt and blue jeans.

Detective Chief Inspector Raymond Brown, from the Major Investigation Team, said: “It has now been one week since Darren’s murder and our dedicated team of detectives and local resources are continuing with their inquiries to find his killer.

“As part of our investigation, uniformed officers will be out on patrol in Tweed Avenue and the surrounding area on Saturday evening to speak with residents, and those who regularly frequent these streets, to identify anyone who may have vital information.

“If you believe you know or saw something then please speak to once of these officers while they were on patrol or visit our incident vehicle, which will be situated at the crime scene.

“Alternatively, anyone with information can contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
