Police name man who died after incident in Kirkcaldy

Police have named a man who died after an incident in Kirkcaldy on Saturday night.

Darren Adie (42) was found unconscious on Tweed Avenue, close to the junction with Lawson Street, around 6.45pm that evening.

He was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he later died.

Officers are treating his death as suspicious and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Detective Chief Inspector Raymond Brown, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Our inquiries are at an early stage and we are keen to speak to anyone who can help us piece together Darren’s last movements.”

Kirkcaldy Inspector Graeme Neill said: “We currently believe this to have been an isolated incident and the local community can be reassured that a dedicated team of officers are investigating Darren’s death.

“There will be a police presence in the area during the early stages of this inquiry with high visibility reassurance patrols.”
