Police renew appeal for information on missing Tayport man

Police in north east Fife have issued an update on their search for missing Tayport man, Walenty (Val) Smernicki.

Missing man Val Smernicki. Last seen near his home in Tayport on Sunday, July 10 around 7.45pm.

The 71-year-old has been missing from his home at the west end of Tayport since around 7.45pm on Sunday (July 10).

Val was last seen walking west towards the shoreline.

The search operations are still going on with water, land and air-based assets.

Val is described as being 5ft 11in tall, of slim build with short grey hair and blue eyes. He may be wearing spectacles.

He was wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers and dark training shoes with a white sole.

Inspector Jim Davenport of St Andrews Police Station said: “We are focussing our inquiries in the area close to Val’s home address and we are still keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him since Sunday at 7.45pm.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101.
