Accessorize store in Fife town moves step closer after council decision
The opening of an Accessorize store in St Andrews has come a step closer after a planning application was given the green light.
The retailer had applied for permission to alter the shopfront at 114 Market Street.
The proposals had encountered some opposition when St Andrews Community Council objected.
It said the “extent and type” of illumination proposed did not comply with the design guidelines for the conservation area.

However, a report from Fife Council planners said the extent of illumination had now been “significantly” reduced.
It added: “The change in the colour of the shop frontage from a red/grey colour scheme to Oyster White will be a visual improvement and shall relate well to the proposed new signage.
“The colour scheme is appropriate to the material substrate and the character of the St. Andrews Conservation Area.”
Approving the application, planners added: “The proposed alterations shall enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and are considered compliant with national guidance, development plan policy and all its related guidance in respect of Design and Visual Impact on the conservation area.”
