Eden Muir Limited has submitted a revised planning application to Fife Council to create 25 fishing platforms, pontoon, reception building, ranger's lodge and associated works at Mountcastle Quarry just north of Ladybank.

It was closed a number of years ago, and the land significantly re-instated, and the company hopes its new plans will get the green light.

A previous application in 2019 was withdrawn.

The new blueprint forms part of what the developer said was “the first phase of a wider set of proposals for the comprehensive redevelopment of the former quarry for leisure and tourism development.”

It will result in significant financial investment stocking the water with fish.

A statement lodged with planning papers said: “It will enable active environmental and social management of the site, create local employment and bring fishing, as a leisure activity, to a wider audience.

Councillors will consider the application in due course.
