Fife Council apprentices rose to the task and have been applauded by a local councillor for their efforts.

A new wall, steps and handrail have been installed on the Northall Road end of Markinch Hill Park. This work was mainly carried out bythe apprentices during the summer and was completed within six weeks of being reported to Cllr Peter Gulline by local residents as unsafe.

Cllr Gulline said: “I would very much like to take this opportunity to thank John Rodigan and the building services team and in particular, want to acknowledge the training opportunity this provided for a couple of young apprentices so a huge thank you to everyone involved.

“The new wall looks amazing and has been affectionately named the “Great Wall” by people in the area who are delighted with the prompt response by Fife Council to what had become an eyesore.
