An un-named Fife councillor has apologised for their conduct during a council meeting has ended.

The move came after Jim Leishman, Provost of Fife, took the rare step of instructing officers to look into claims of poor behaviour during a full Fife Council meeting last month.

The debate, on August 6, was the first event open to all 75 elected members since lockdown, and it was streamed live online.

Ordering the probe, Provost Leishman said: “As chair of the committee I expect a high standard of behaviour from all elected members.

"Unfortunately it appears that these standards were not met during the meeting and I've asked officers to look into this matter."

Fife Council confirmed an apology had been given.

A short statement said that Morag Ferguson, head of democratic and legal services confirmed that the matter had been investigated and the elected member involved has now apologised to the Provost and the chief executive, Steve Grimmond.
