Fife football club reveals plans for new 3G pitch to boost community facilities
A long established Fife football team has unveiled plans for a new 3G pitch.
Glenrothes Strollers wants to add the facility at its base in Viewfield for the benefit of the whole community.
The club has applied to Fife Council for planning permission carry out the work which would include floodlighting and new boundary fencing,
A statement, submitted as part of the application, said the new pitch would offer year-round access to teams.

It said: “There is substantial demand for enhanced all-weather provision within the Fife area, and the proposed development will encourage participation, physical activity and positive lifestyle behaviours across varied user groups. The plan is to deliver long-term sustainable benefits by strengthening grassroots football development, supporting inclusive participation, and creating a clear pathway for young footballers as they progress through age-group and levels.
“The proposed football pitch will create an enhanced multi-use training environment that supports a broad range of football, recreation and wellbeing activities for Glenrothes Strollers and across Overstenton Park and the wider community.
“The new facility will provide a valuable training and competition space, improving technical development, small-sided play and team training experiences.”
The installation of LED floodlighting will also “significantly extend playable hours” throughout the year, and allow Strollers to meet rising demand for a high-quality training space.
The report outlined operating hours from 8:00am to 10:00pm with an extension across one touchline for the inclusion of a spectator area.
Councillors will consider the application in due course
