Fife golf club gets green light for holiday cabins after devastating clubhouse fire
Charleton Golf Course submitted plans for the 'eco lodges' in July - one month after its clubhouse was destroyed in a fire.
Each lodge at the course, by Colinsburgh, will be based on land once occupied by the club's driving range and will feature two or three-bedroom accommodation, en‐suite facilities, an open plan kitchen and dining and living space.

Despite the timing of the application, Charleton says it has been looking to build the holiday lodges for some time prior to the fire, as part of a planned expansion of its business.

"Fife Council has previously in principle supported the development of the (course) estate that could provide a new ‘leisure destination’ for the area as well as supporting the proposed location of the lodges," a planning statement provided by agents PPCA read.

Three objections were received, airing concerns of road safety, flooding and impact on visual amenity.
However, case officer Jamie Penman approved the application with 14 conditions attached, requiring the club to provide additional details of groundworks and additional lighting prior to construction. Charleton has also been banned from selling the lodges, and is permitted to provide them for holiday let only.
