Fife town's former Post Office to become restaurant

City Hotels (Dunfermline) Ltd submitted its proposal for the Queen Anne Street building in November last year, seeking permission to host up to 230 people.

The firm will install rooflights and a new awning-type roof structure in the rear courtyard to protect outdoor diners from the elements.

Agents acting on behalf of City Hotels also say the business will create between 20 and 30 part-time jobs.

Following consideration of the plans, Fife Council has given them its approval, as has Historic Environment Scotland, which was consulted because of the building's Category B Listed status.

"The proposal is considered to be compatible with its surrounds; would not cause any detrimental impacts on surrounding residential properties or road safety and would also visually complement and would cause no harm to the historic character of the surrounding Dunfermline Conservation Area and this Category B Listed building “the council concluded.
