Flats planned for former Fife childcare office

A building which once hosted childcare services is to be turned into flats.

Approval for the development at 82 Grainger Street Lochgelly was given this week by councillors.

The building is currently vacant, and was previously used for the provision of childcare services, with offices above.

Applicant, Keltec Design, said each flat will have two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen area and a lounge.

The site will also offer ten parking spaces and access off the existing vehicle entrance at Grainger Street.

An area of garden ground is proposed immediately in front of the building.

Some relatively minor functional and cosmetic enhancements are proposed to the exterior – the company said this was to improve the visual amenity and fit in with the overall design of the new development.

Fife Council approved the applications subject to conditions.

The local authority stated: “The development is acceptable in terms of the provisions of policy and guidance in relation to the principle of development, residential amenity, garden ground and transportation infrastructure.

“Overall, it is considered that the proposed development accords with the

development plan.”
