Grants scheme opens to help Fife businesses and residents take action on flood prevention

Residents and businesses across Fife are being encouraged to take action now to protect their properties from flooding.

Grants of up to £5000 are available through Fife Council's Property Flood Resilience Grant (PFRG) scheme.

It helps private homeowners or business owners install measures that can reduce the impact of future flooding and support faster recovery after flood events should they happen.

Measures are designed to make buildings less vulnerable to flood damage and can include solutions such as flood doors, airbrick covers, non-return valves and other adaptations tailored to individual properties.

Councillor Jan Wincott, spokesperson for environment and climate change, explained: "Flooding can have a devastating impact on people, communities and businesses.

“While we cannot always prevent flooding from happening, there are practical steps property owners can take to reduce the damage it causes.

"Our scheme provides financial support to help people put those measures in place before flooding occurs. We would urge anyone who may be eligible to explore the support available and not wait until severe weather is forecast.”

The scheme is open to eligible private householders and businesses across Fife. To find out more, visit www.fife.gov.uk/PFRG
