New electric vehicle charging point planned for Fife town

Drivers of electric cars in Fife could soon have more charging points to choose from.

Fife Council has submitted a planning application add an extra one at a popular spot in Dysart.

It wants to put the additional electric vehicle charging point on land at Shore Road car park in the burgh.

The application was lodged this week, and will be decided in due course by councillors and officers.

Last June, the Kingdom was named as behind the curve in Scotland on the green transport revolution.

Figures from the Department of Transport suggested it was among the worst access to electric car charging points.

There were just 100 public charging devices in the area at the start of April 2020.

But the local rate was still on a par with the UK average of 27.

The DfT said the regional distribution of devices across the UK was uneven, with some councils having bid for government funding, while others had not.
