Cupar’s posties will go on strike after the Royal Mail refused to reinstate sacked colleague Dave Mitchell.
That means Christmas post deliveries in the area will be affected.
The postmen voted overwhlemingly to take industrial action in support of Mr Mitchell.
Members of the Communication Workers’ Union in Cupar will walk out over the issue on December 19 after 97 percent voted for action.
Mr Mitchell (57) was fired last December after being accused of stealing mail on his rounds in Ceres, Craigrothie and his home village of Chance Inn.
CWU branch secretary Kenny Logan told the Fife Herald that Royal Mail had been given the requisite seven day notice period for the strike action.
