Organisers of Elie’s annual summer showpiece have been praised for playing Fayre with the village primary school.

The generosity of Elie Fayre Day Group has certainly brought a smile to the faces of the nine P1 pupils at Park Place.

The group approached headteacherMaggie Mackay, offering a kind donation of almost £ 500 to school funds.

Staff and pupils alike were unanimous in their decision that it should be spent to renew equipment to encourage educational play for the school’s newest intake.

Three main items were purchased, all of which have brought a splash of colour to the school – with the added bonus that all can be used outdoors as well as inside.

A multi-coloured slide has proved a huge hit with the children, while the fantastic giant Four In A Row encourages counting and spatial awareness.

The Aqua-lab system encourages water play and experiments with capacity, as well as providing endless fun and enjoyment.

Mrs Mackay, staff and pupils welcomed Peter Wilson and Carol Birrell from the Fayre Day committee to the school so the pupils could express their grateful thanks.
