It will be the “purrfect” tribute to the most famous feline in St Andrews at town centre booksellers’ Waterstones tomorrow (Saturday) when an illustrated book focusing on his life is officially launched.
Hamish McHamish is a truly remarkable cat who has roamed the heart of the university town for the last 13 years.
He is adored by local residents, students and tourists from all over the world, has almost 3000 Facebook friends and just loves to be photographed with his many admirers.
Now, his irresistible story, entitled Hamish McHamish, Cool Cat About Town, reveals just why so many people love him.
Featuring real-life photos of Hamish on his travels, author Susan McMullan takes readers to many of his popular haunts in St Andrews - everything from estate agents, pubs and charity headquarters to banks, shops and hairdressing salons - where he is made most welcome.
Cat lover Susan was inspired to publish the book about Hamish after moving to the town several years ago and discovering his popularity.
She said:“I wrote it because Hamish is a remarkable cat and deserves to be celebrated. The response I had while collecting Hamish’s photographs was overwhelming. Everybody was tickled pink that he was to be honoured with his own book.”
The book will be unveiled at 1pm tomorrow when the author will be in attendance.
