Thousands of Fifers attended a Christmas Reindeer Parade in Kirkcaldy to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The Christmas family event, organised by the Mercat Shopping Centre, took place on Sunday and saw Father Christmas and his sleigh make their way from Thistle Street to officially open the Mercat Centre Christmas Grotto.
The Reindeer Parade was first started back in 1988 and has become a popular local tradition ever since. This year, the parade included four full-grown reindeer and two baby reindeer from the Cairngorm Mountains, some famous book characters and the Little Mermaid in association with ONFife.
To celebrate the 25th year, additional entertainment also took place including free face painting and free antler hats for children.
The parade officially marked the opening of the Mercat Centre Christmas Grotto, which will now be open every day until Christmas Eve.
Stephen Roberts, manager of the Mercat, said: “I would like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate the 25th Reindeer Parade with us.
“It was a fantastic day and it was great to see so many happy smiling faces.”
“Our shopping centre is at the heart of the community so we think it is important to put on terrific, free events like this.”
“It really does mark the start of Christmas in Kirkcaldy and it is lovely to think that many people have grown up seeing the Reindeer Parade and are now able to bring their own children to see it.”
