“It’s a huge boost for us and represents a cast iron endorsement of the work that everyone has been putting in,” Sally told the Gazette.
“While we had the backing of Fife Council, Women’s Aid and the Fife Sexual and Domestic Abuse Partnership, we also had to provide a lot of evidence, case studies, breakdown of results over the last year.
“The funding is a gamble for Big Lottery which some might see as taking a punt on us, but we know we can continue to deliver and the money now gives us respite from the hand-to-mouth existence funding wise that we’ve had to endure until now,“ she added.
Janet and Sally have helped around 180 women with the part time course in the last three years. Now with the help of volunteers and the involvement several former abuse sufferers who want to get involved to help others, now has plans in place to start new programmes from May.
