The A91 between St Andrews and Guardbridge is closed and is unlikely to re-open before the weekend.
Flooding on the A91 has forced closure of the road in both directions between the Windmill Road junction in St Andrews and the main A919 Main Street junction in Guardbridge.
The A91 between St Andrews and Guardbridge is currently impassable due to severe flooding, and a diversion is in place via the B939.
Sara Wilson, lead professional roads maintenance operations, Fife Council, said: “We are doing everything we can to resolve the flooding issue.
“Since early this morning, our staff have been on-site pumping out the water from the flooded area.
“We will carry on pumping but due to the additional rain forecast for the next few days it is unlikely the road will be open before the weekend. There is a signed diversion in place via the B939 and school buses will be running on alternative routes. There should be no disruption to school arrival and departure times.”
