The competition has been pretty tough but after much deliberation the winner of St Andrews’ best window display for The Open was declared to be Scaramanga in Bell Street.

The furniture and leather shop was given the top spot by judge Francis Boag, currently artist in residence at Fraser East Gallery.

The runners-up places were given to Alchemia and The Keys.

Commenting in the contest, Francis said he felt that everyone had put in a great effort.

He managed to arrive at a shortlist of six which were all re-visited before finalising his decision.

He felt that Scaramanga’s window was immediately eye-catching and particularly liked the subtle, but effective, use of colour.

Francis also said that Alchemia display was innovative and showed products off very well, whilst The Keys looked impressive and enthusiastic.

The winner received a pair of weekend tickets for The Open provided by the R&A; a magnum of Pol Roger Champagne, sponsored by Luvians and Pol Roger, and a box of special golf biscuits from Fisher and Donaldson.

The runners-up received a bottle of Pol Roger Champagne and box of golf biscuits from Fisher and Donaldson.
