Costumes are being finished and ‘bodies’ are being stuffed as final preparations are made for one of the visual highlights of the year - the Elie Scarecrow Festival.
The event takes place from May 1-4 and so far 50 ‘scarecrows’ have been registered.
If past years are anything to go by, there will be an incredible range of imaginative and witty scarecrows, from individual figures to groupings - such as last year’s Fife Council scarecrows ‘relaxing’ on Toll Green, Scary Poppins and the elegant pair in black tie and evening gown enjoying a Champagne dinner at Earlsferry Care Home.
And adding to the fun this year is an event which sounds like it is not to be missed - a Pantomime Horse Dressage Competition, which takes place on Sunday. May 3, at Woodside.
Now in its fourth year, the festival is a popular attraction for visitors as well as a lot of fun for locals and guide maps are sold to take in the tour of where the scarecrows are displayed around the village.
