Six charged after St Andrews police swoop

After the major police operation in St Andrews yesterday, involving armed police officers and a police helicopter, six men have been charged.

For over an hour, there was intense activity around Wardlaw Gardens, with armed officers seen searching the grounds of properties and unmarked police cars blocking off both ends of the street.

Police Scotland have issued the following statement: “Following an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Organised Crime & Counter-Terrorism Unit on Tuesday, March 3, in St Andrews, six men aged 16-55 were today (Wednesday, March 4) arrested and charged with conspiracy to rob.

“They are expected to appear from custody in Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow (Thursday, March 5) and enquiries are ongoing.”.
