A CARTOONIST has decided to launch an exhibition of his work in St Andrews in an attempt to bring some humour to the art world.

Peter Herron hopes his cartoons put a smile on the faces of the people that see them and has arranged a gallery to display his work at Rascals Bar on March 25 from 6pm.

His facebook page is attracting a growing number of admirers and Peter is confident the gallery can win over more admirers for the often ignored artform.

“When someone thinks of a ‘gallery’ they automatically assume that it will be ‘fine or modern art’ - I want to change that assumption,” Peter said.

“Cartoons are a great form of art and the perfect way to get a point across regardless of the subject matter. I started a page on facebook just over a year ago, have developed quite a decent following and I’ve worked very hard to move to the next stage.

“I like to think I’m not your usual cartoonist as my work is sometimes reflective, always socially quirky and most of the time, just plain silly!”
