St Andrews shopkeeper Christine Young and her family are showing their support for the TCCL Lodge campaign by organising a fun day in South Street next Saturday (June 13).
Christine, who owns gift shop Thistle Dae at the Westport, said she wanted to organise an event to support loyal customer and TCCL committee member Bob Robertson.
The event, which is weather dependent, will involve tables being set up in front of Thistle Dae and neighbouring shops, filled with activities for children including a hoopla stall, water gun, a golf area plus a raffle and tombola.
Organisers are also hoping a face painter will come forward to offer some help.
Christine said: “We have had great support from other businesses who have given us raffle prizes. Our neighbour, Munch, has also offered to donate £1 for every ice cream sold so we’re hoping we get aice sunny day!”
One of the raffle prizes will be an Army teddy bear donated by Bob Robertson while other top prizes include a painting and gift vouchers.
During the course of the day a street collection will also take place with help from a team from the Royal Bank of Scotland who will be helping man at collection point near Blackfriars Chapel.
Bank manager Darren Liddle, who is set to trek the Great Wall of China in September to raise funds for TCCL Lodge, said he was delighted to help out.
Volunteers are needed to help at a collection point near Jannettas Gelateria and at other points including Madras College and outside Thistle Dae during the day.
The event runs from 10am - 3pm and volunteers are asked to help either between 10am-11.30am, 11.30am and 1pm, and 1pm-3pm. For more details on how you can help contact Bob Robertson, 01334 208429.
