Fife Council has introduced temporary traffic restrictions in part of St Andrews town centre this from today (Monday) which will have a significant effect on parking.
Details of the works’ programme, which will centre on The Scores and the North Castle Street areas, were outlined to members of St Andrews Community Council at last week’s meeting in the Burgh Chambers.
Through-traffic will be prohibited from using The Scores, from its junction with Murray Park to its junction with North Castle Street and from North Castle Street, from its junction with North Street to its junction with The Scores. The routes will be closed daily between 8am and 5pm from today through to Friday. During the closure period the waiting and loading of vehicles will not be permitted at any time on both sides of The Scores from the Murray Park junction eastwards to its junction with North Castle Street.
In addition, during the closure period, local traffic regulations will be temporarily suspended in so far as they relate to the direction of travel on North Castle Street. The restrictions are being introduced by the local authority to allow access to carriageway sewer manholes for investigation, and for any repairs to be carried out.
Residential and business access will be maintained to either side of the works during the road closure restricted hours and access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
