HAVING endured a sodden Sea Queen ceremony in 2011, the organisers of this year’s event went straight to ‘Plan B’ when rain and wind again marred the day’s celebrations.

All activities were transferred to the Town Hall and Church Hall with the newly-opened Serenity Garden providing an open air venue between the showers.

Away from the harbour front, the day lacked the usual maritime feel but there was still solid community support and loads of fun for all the family.

Sea Queen Saunia Verma along with her two attendants,Carly Scott and Rachel Leitch, Page Boy David Kelly and Fisher Lass Erin Jones were still the stars of the show, leading a chilly procession to the Town Hall for the crowning ceremony.

Sunday’s traditonal Kirkin’ o’ the Sea Queen was a brighter, though still damp, day, with Saunia leading the parish church congregation in prayer after the customary salt and oats were given to the sea from the Inverie bridge as a thanksgiving offering.
