The final plans are in place for this weekend’s Leven Christmas light switch on, and X Factor star Jade Richards has been booked as the main headliner.
The X Factor star, who made it to the judges’ houses stage of the competition this year, will play a short set at the annual event.
St Agatha’s Primary School choir will also be taking to the stage to get everybody into the seasonal spirit with a set of Christmas carols.
Councillor Alistair Hunter, who has been involved in the organisation of this year’s event, said now the plans were in place, everyone was excited for Saturday.
“It’s brilliant that we have St Agatha’s performing for us, because our Rose Queen is from there this year. And Jade has really gone out of her way to squeeze us into her hectic schedule so we’re delighted about that.”
“The entertainment is going to kick off about quarter to four, and we’re also going to have some giveaways for the kids as well.”
Cllr Hunter was keen to thank all who have been involved in the organisation of this year’s event.
“The community has really pulled together and made it happen,” he said. “It’s absolutely fantastic.
“The civic week committee, Leven enviroment group, the community council, and many other organisations, are all doing their own wee bits and have really stepped up to the plate to help bring it all together.
“This is a proper community effort, which is just brilliant to see.”
Headliner Jade, who has landed herself a record deal since appearing on the mammoth ITV show this summer, said she was looking forward to Saturday afternoon and will be singing three songs during her set, with one of them being a Christmas song.
She added: “It should be good.
“Hopefully not as cold as last year, it was freezing!”
