BIG Tent has completed its musical line-up for this summer’s festival.
The 2012 event, staged in Falkland, will feature headliners The Proclaimers, Salsa Celtica and Karine Polwart.
Organisers say the line-up is the most diverse yet, and around 10,000 people are expected to flock to the eco festival July 21-22 as it returns after a one year break.
Polwart, one of Scotland;’s most acclaimed singer-singwriters, was the latest name to be added to the main stage along with the Treaherous Orchesra and and Braebach.
Her debut album, ‘Faultlines’, won the best album award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and she has gone on to become an evocative live performer with strong connections to the country’s growing folk music scene.
The Treacherous Orchestra hit the festival on the back of an appearance at Glasgow Celtic Connections, and promise to have everyone up on their feet.
Helen Lawrenson, centre director at the Centre for Stewardship at Falkland, the organisation behind Big Tent said: “It is great news for fans that we can announce so many top quality acts for this year’s event given that our headliners are already world class bands.
‘‘We have tried to give the music programme as many dimensions as possible while booking what we know our fans like.
‘‘We believe this is a truly world class line up of world and folk musicians and we expect the programme to attract fans from far and wide.’’
Big Tent - recognised as Scotland’s greenest festival, and one of the most family friendly - is now finalising its diverse environmental programme of debates and workshops which draw many people to the setting in the grounds of Falkland Estate.
