Kirkcaldy firefighter Stevie McCrorie is set to receive a hero’s welcome when he returns to the town today (Monday).

The 30-year-old will meet up with firefighting colleagues at Kirkcaldy Fire Station in Dunnikier Road before heading to the promenade and the town centre to thank locals for their support.

Stevie is being filmed by a production crew with ‘The Voice’ ahead of the show final on Saturday.

He is visiting his old school in Stirling in the morning before coming to Kirkcaldy at around 1.30 p.m. The crew are looking to head to the promenade and the town centre between 3.00 p.m and 4.00 p.m.

The move comes after Stevie secured his place with another fantastic performance at the semi-final.

The 30-year-old was chosen by the public to make it to the last round after he impressed viewers with his rendition of ”Bleeding Love”, which was originally a hit by X Factor winner Leona Lewis.

Stevie’s performance also had a Scottish flavour as he was accompanied by two kilted pipers and drummers. It was the first time the father-of-one had faced the public vote.

The local firefighter, who is a member of Blue Watch at Kirkcaldy Fire Station, was given a fast pass through to the semis by his coach, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.

Later in the show he paired up with his mentor and fellow team member Emmanuel to perform a cover of “Stay With Me” by The Faces.

Ricky called Stevie’s performing ‘amazing’ and the popular Scotsman, who is originally from Alva, is believed to the bookies favourite to win the talent show.

Stevie’s firefighting colleagues watched his performance on Saturday night from the Dunnikier Road Station. Craig Robertson, watch manager, told The Press they were able to take a break from work to see Stevie make it through to the final.

He said: “We were on the edge of our seats! We were quietly confident he would go through but we were getting a bit nervous waiting for the result! He has had a lot of support and we are all very proud of him for making it through to the final.”

The finale will feature the last four remaining contestants - Stevie, Sasha, Emmanuel and Lucy - who will all bid for the Voice title.
