The Fifers will be expected to pick up maximum points against a Mo side which sits a comfortable 10 points off bottom place.

But Bayview boss Gary Naysmith says he’s seen enough from them in the games played this season to know nobody at Links Park will have downed tools for the summer.

The gaffer said: “Montrose went to Clyde (on Saturday) and scored three goals.

“They’re a handful.

“The last two games we’ve played against them they’ve come back against us twice.”

The Fifers raced four points clear at the top of League Two at the weekend, helped by a 1-0 win at Arbroath and the chasing pack all dropping points.

The manager is fully focused on Paul Hegarty’s Montrose, but may have some patching up to do with key players including himself and Ross Brown nursing injuries after the weekend.

The manager added: “We have a few bumps and bruises and a couple will maybe be doubtful.

“We’ll assess it but it may be a different 11 that’s on the pitch.

“But that’s why we have the squad.

“Stevie Campbell should be alright but Ross and myself, we’ll have to wait and see.”

The side were well worth their 1-0 win at the weekend, but the boss reckons they could have had more.

“Kyle Wilkie and Nathan Austin could have had two or three each on another day but that’s football.

“Arbroath created a couple of half chances.”
